Which Megaro Collection hotel is closest to St Pancras?
The Megaro is the closest, at 1 Belgrove Street, directly across the road from King’s Cross and St Pancras International. The California is a few doors along the same street at two minutes’ walk, and The Gyle is four minutes away on Argyle Square. All three are close enough to walk with a suitcase, so the real question is usually which one suits your trip rather than which one saves you a hundred metres.

The Megaro, for the shortest possible walk
If you’re arriving late, leaving early, or simply don’t want to think about it, this is the one. It sits directly opposite the stations on Belgrove Street, and it’s hard to miss, being the building with the large-scale colourful mural across the entire front.
It’s the collection’s five star hotel, and both of the group’s best known places to eat and drink are here. Spagnoletti is the all-day Italian opposite the stations, and Hokus Pokus is the late-night bar hidden underground. There are also in-room wellbeing treatments if you’d rather not go anywhere at all after a long journey. You can see the rooms at The Megaro.
The California, for families and a lighter touch
Two minutes along the same street, The California is the three star option and the most straightforward of the three, in the best sense. There’s a bar and lounge for a coffee, a pastry or a drink, somewhere to sit with a laptop, and an outdoor terrace when the weather allows.
It’s the one to look at if you’re travelling as a group or a family, since the Family + rooms sleep up to six. No two rooms are the same here, each having its own layout and details, so it’s worth a look at the options rather than assuming they’re interchangeable. Have a browse at The California.
The Gyle, for a quieter kind of stay
Four minutes from the stations on Argyle Square, The Gyle trades two minutes of walking for a garden square setting, which makes a noticeable difference if you’d rather not look out onto a main road. It’s the four star option, a modern take on townhouse charm, and The Lounge handles breakfast, drinks and the quieter moments of a stay.
Spagnoletti and Hokus Pokus are both within a short walk if you fancy dinner or a nightcap at one of the collection’s other addresses. Details are at The Gyle.
Finding us when you step off the train
Arriving on the Eurostar, you’ll exit onto Pancras Road, and The Megaro is directly opposite. Coming into King’s Cross on a domestic service, the exit brings you out onto the forecourt facing Euston Road, and you’ll see The Megaro’s mural façade across the road to your right. From that point, The California is a few doors along Belgrove Street, and Argyle Square is a little further on for The Gyle.
It’s worth setting off on foot rather than looking for a taxi. The walk from the platform to any of the three is shorter than the queue at the rank, and none of the routes involve crossing anything more complicated than Euston Road.
If you’re here for a meeting rather than a night
The collection also runs The Derby, a meetings and events venue at Derbyshire House on St Chad’s Street, a few minutes from the stations in the same corner of King’s Cross. It has eight meeting rooms of different sizes alongside larger flexible spaces, and it’s day use rather than accommodation, so a common pattern is a meeting at The Derby and a room at one of the three hotels.
Deciding between them? Compare the three on rate and room type for your dates, then let the walk decide any tie. Booking direct is the best way to get the room you actually want, and the team can talk you through which building suits your arrival time.
