The Gyle has 41 rooms across three Victorian townhouses on Argyle Square, and no two are the same. That’s genuine rather than a marketing line — the rooms have different proportions, different outlooks and different features depending on where they sit within the buildings. The choice is worth taking a moment over.
Here’s what each room type offers and who it suits best.
Gyle Double
12 sqm, queen bed, rainfall shower, 2 guests.
The most compact option at The Gyle, and the right choice for guests who plan to spend most of their time out in the city and want a comfortable, well-designed room to return to. At 12 sqm it’s cosy rather than spacious, but the quality of the materials and the thoughtful layout mean it doesn’t feel small in the way that some city-centre rooms do. Good for solo travellers using the queen bed, or couples on shorter stays who are out exploring from morning.
Large King
19 sqm, king bed, rainfall shower, 2 guests.
More space than the Gyle Double, with the Victorian character of the building more visible in the details: luggage drawers built into the base of the bed, a Victorian cast-iron coal hole cover repurposed as a coffee table, an airline trolley holding bathroom toiletries. It’s the standard two-person room for guests who want a more settled feel without the additional features of the courtyard, balcony or vaulted bathroom categories.
Feature Twin with Courtyard
28 sqm, twin beds, private courtyard, sitting area, 2 guests.
The only twin configuration at The Gyle, which makes it the natural choice for two guests travelling together who want separate beds — friends visiting London, colleagues on a work trip, or two guests who simply prefer not to share. The private courtyard is the standout feature: outdoor space on a Georgian garden square in central London, with a sitting area to use it from. At 28.5 sqm it’s also the most generous room footprint in the non-suite categories.
Feature King with Vaulted Bathroom
29 sqm, king bed, sunken bath, rain shower, seating area, 2 guests.
The bathroom is what this room is for. Vaulted ceilings, a deep sunken tub, a rain shower — the kind of bathroom that doesn’t happen by accident in a Victorian townhouse and that rewards guests who treat a hotel stay as an occasion rather than a convenience. There’s a seating area alongside the king bed. It suits couples who want something that feels more special than a standard room without requiring a full suite.
Feature Double with Balcony
21 sqm, queen bed, private balcony, rainfall shower, 2 guests.
A private balcony overlooking Argyle Square. It’s a different quality from a courtyard — more open, with a view across the garden square and the original architecture of the surrounding townhouses. The room itself is 21 sqm with a queen bed and rainfall shower. The balcony is the reason to choose it: morning coffee while the square comes to life, or a quiet moment outside after an evening in the city.
The Gyle Suite
27 sqm, king bed, separate living room, ensuite, rainfall shower, 2 guests.
A suite in the truest sense: a king bedroom and a separate living room, giving you two distinct spaces within the same booking. It’s the right choice for guests who want room to decompress properly — to sit somewhere other than the end of the bed, to have a space that functions as a living room rather than just a sleeping space. At 27 sqm across two rooms it’s well-proportioned for a townhouse suite. Good for occasion stays, longer trips, or anyone who finds a single room limiting after a couple of nights.
Studio Residence for Two
31 sqm, king bed, fully-equipped kitchen, 2 guests. Located a short walk from the main house on Argyle Square.
The Residence is self-contained in a way the hotel rooms aren’t: its own entrance, its own kitchen, its own space entirely. It sits just away from the main townhouse but with access to The Gyle’s facilities when you want them. It suits guests on longer stays who want the independence of an apartment alongside the reassurance of a hotel, and couples or pairs who travel better with a kitchen and their own front door. Check-in is handled at The Gyle reception before you’re set up with keys.
What every room shares
Smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi and air conditioning are standard across all room types. In-room wellbeing treatments are available to book during your stay. Dogs are welcome across the hotel.
